I am actively switching between all of them so far because they all seem to have place to be used. The weapons feel good so far and seem to act they way you would expect. There has been some doubts about the melee finishers but I find them fast and actually useful in that they give a moment of respite which can allow you some time to get your next target. I am playing on nightmare and just got past the foundry level (3rd level I think?) and this difficulty feels like ultra violence in DOOM 1/2 which is great.
I finally got my copy today for ps4 and as a DOOM fan I've got some thoughts so far. Other games (Fallout 4 and Witcher 3) seem to be fine with 5.1, though I should do some more testing. I think a lot of my issues are because I was streaming to my HDTV w/ 5.1 using Steam Link and that box does some magic to get 5.1 audio working (my PC is only set for 2.1). Triggering an "artifact" speech thingy (the demonic voice telling a story) would fade out if I walked away, but not fade back in if walked back. Other times the subtitles would trigger for an environmental voice way before you could actually here it (this was most common with those holographic "UAC Announcement" messages). Some speech was muted entirely (the lady talking after you turn the power on at the start of mission 2). The music during the credits was so soft it was barely audible. Other times the music was very loud and drowned out other sounds.
Weapon sound effects were generally too quiet. Anyone using 5.1 audio with the PC version? I had some weird audio level issues:
